Once upon a time, there was an evil blight named Malnutrition that ravaged the children of a land called Kenya, leaving them starving and stunted until one day their knight in shining armor arrived.
That noble knight, named Future Fortified, was angered by the situation and wanted to rescue the wee ones from the gnarled hands of Malnutrition. He pleaded with the wise elders to create a magic powder that would provide vitamins and nutrients to protect the children from danger. With these packets of powder, the knight traveled the countryside sprinkling the magic potion on toddler’s meals creating an invisible wall that Malnutrition could not scale.
And the children grew.
Until one day, the knight ran out of the magical powder. His pockets were empty – he had no money to make the powder packets. Having heard of the kind and gifted Lady Peragine, whose creativity and power grew among the presence of little ones, he set off to seek her help.
Across the golden river and past the diamond hills, the knight found Lady Peragine painting in her luminescent tower, kids joyfully playing at her feet. He bemoaned his impoverished state to Lady Peragine and warned of Malnutrition’s cruelty toward children.
Lady Peragine agreed to help. She created a picture so adorable, so irresistible everyone would want one for their nursery and their best nursing shoes. They hoped to use the money made to create more magical powder and drive Malnutrition from the land forever.
They set the artwork out for sale and waited for the good people to come…
(Isn’t this limited edition print pictured above adorable? My friend Rebecca Peragine teamed up with Future Fortified to create it. It’s only $40 and it all goes to help malnourished children get the vitamins they need to grow. You’ve always wanted to be a fairy godmother, haven’t you?)
