As kids head back to school and indoors as the weather cools, they’ll be spending more time on the computer. While my preschoolers aren’t demanding their own Facebook account yet, they do love them some Angry Birds, Peanut Butter Jelly Time, and tinkering around on educational handheld video games.
I don’t look forward to confronting the unique challenges of my children’s web-centric generation in the years to come – cyberbullying, de-friending, sexting and mean tweeting. Yikes! It’s a cruel, cruel online world out there. How will I help my child navigate their way through this new social frontier? Luckily, I have a guide. Specifically, the Girl’s Guide to the Digital World created by Dove. It’s targeted toward moms with daughters, but much of the information could also apply to parenting boys.
If you have kids of “online age,” check out the tools in the guide. Or, if you’re like me and a compulsive planner and collector of useful information, you’ll want to read it now to prepare for the coming years. Go ahead, arm yourself. I am.
