There’s no doubt about it.
Life is expensive, but you can save money if you’re willing to put a little effort into it.
And, I don’t mean you’ll just save on the typical things. You can save money on almost anything if you’re willing to get a little creative. Don’t know quite how to save money on any purchase, give these tips a try.
Use these tips and start saving on almost every purchase you make!
1. Make it or do it yourself
This option is pretty obvious for most of us.
Think about your favorite coffeehouse drink. If you make it at home, you’ll spend mere cents on a latte, whereas if you purchase one in-house, you’ll be spending upwards of $4 or $5.
The same is true for a lot of things.
Consider making your own household cleaners, coffee drinks, desserts, even hygiene items and you’ll save a bundle.
2. Use cash
This option is particularly effective for making large purchases.
Money talks, so if you’re able to pay cash for a big ticket item, ask if there is a deal for doing so.
Many companies, think car dealers, furniture retailers, etc., can cut you a deal when you’re paying upfront with cash.
3. Ask for a discount
I know some people find it embarrassing to “haggle” or ask for a better deal, but I’m a firm believer in the idea that it doesn’t hurt to ask.
I’ve gotten better pricing on everything from a meal to auto repairs simply by asking if they had a deal or discount running.
4. Purchase a no-frills or off-brand
I know we all have our brand favorites, but often those brands are a bit pricier.
Have you ever tried opting for an off-brand instead? I have found several great products I love in off-brand options. So, don’t forgo trying a different brand just because it’s cheaper or not a recognized brand.
Give a new brand a try.
You can always go back if you don’t like the new product.
5. Take advantage of combo offers
You can save money on everything from insurance to groceries by combining purchases.
You just have to be thrifty about it. Talk to your insurance agent and see what kind of deals the company offers for combining auto and home insurance.
In some cases you can save as much as 20 percent. The same deals apply when you buy in bulk at the grocery store.
Think of ways you can bundle your purchases, and see the savings add up.
Figuring out how to save money can seem complicated, but if you have a few strategies to rely on, you have nothing to worry about.
Use these tips, and you’ll be saving money on almost all your purchases in no time.
